Two years have passed since the release of Beat Assailant's first album "Hard Twelve". The highly successful debut quickly became an indie cult classic. Since then, Beat Assailant has been constantly on tour, always performing with his formidable 9 musician setup, playing over 140 dates including shows with Kanye West at the « Nice Jazz Festival », DJ Premier at « Nordik Impakt », Maceo Parker at "La Defense Jazz Festival", Sziget Festival in Budapest, Paleo Festival in Switzerland, Les Vieilles Charrues, and Printemps de Bourges in France. Now, along with his producer, the esteemed Maxime Lebidois aka « Danny Wild » & their entire 9 musician team, Beat Assailant will release his sophomore album, « Imperial Pressure ».
This new album was inspired by the explosive energy created by the Beat Assailant Band on stage. After a long preproduction process, the crew finally decided to take the whole band into a vintage studio for a one week "lock out" recording session in july 2007. The goal? To play everything live, in one take, just like on stage ! This record promises to continue pushing the boundaries of Hip-Hop by blending jazz, funk, soul, rock and electro vibes with an urban edge. "Imperial Pressure" features the same team from "Hard Twelve": "Danny Wild on production with Nicolas Guegen & Thibault Renard adding arrangements. Also featured are all the members of the BA Band playing live on the record, including newcomer DJ Pfel from C2C crew handling the cuts and scratches. The first single "Better Than Us" also includes a special guest appearance by José Reis Fontao, lead singer of the band "Stuck in the Sound". Beat Assailant's sophomore album, "Imperial Pressure", creates a diverse musical atmosphere charged with energy and emotion, resulting in a follow up effort that is powerfully addictive.
