Exhibition: Some Photographs Taken in France at Diemar/Noble
Proust may have thought photography was shallow but more than a few of his compatriots have since proved him wrong. In honour of Bastille Day, Some Photographs Taken in France is a celebration of the nation’s first century of photography. It features many quirky and rare shots, including an incredible series of the artist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec relieving himself on the beach. Also on show is the work of many of France’s best-known photographers, including Man Ray, Henri-Cartier Bresson and Brassaï. The works have been carefully chosen from the point of view of a collector, focusing on the rarest and finest prints, many of which nobody ever knew existed.
Runs until 16 July at Diemar/Noble, 66/67 Wells Street W1P 2PY
