TGV Est
TGV Est - Record-Breaking news
At last the long awaited TGV Est is now operational. Tickets are opened for sale and the train will be linking Paris and Strasbourg from 10th June 2007.
On the 3rd April, it made history by being the fastest rail train ever. Many foreign journalists as well as politicians and rail bosses were on-board to experience it first hand.
Cheers broke as the train passed the 500km/h barrier and intensified as the train kept on going faster to reach an amazing 575km/h.
The TGV Est standard speed between Paris and Strasbourg will be 320km/h (under 2h20min.) making it the most efficient way to travel between the two cities reducing the journey time by 1h60min. This also means that when the Channel Tunnel link opens in St Pancras on 14th
November, it will possible to travel by train between London and the centre of the Champagne region in less than 3 hours.
